Canada calls home high commissioner for 'urgent consultations'

Canada has recalled Peter Walker, its high commissioner to India, to Ottawa for ''urgent consultations'' following the second round of nuclear tests carried out by New Delhi on Wednesday.

Walker will leave on Thursday.

Foreign Affairs Minister Lloyd Axworthy had issued a statement on Monday in London strongly deploring the nuclear weapons test explosions carried out by India earlier that day.
