Two killed in ambush

An Assam Rifles soldier and a militant were killed in an ambush at Thoubal main bazaar in Manipur on Wednesday evening.

The police said a group of militants opened fire on an Assam Rifles patrol party killing the soldier and injuring two others.

The extremist was killed when he was trying to snatch away the dead soldier's rifle.

The injured have been shifted to the military hospital at Leimakhong.
