SP announces 14 candidates

The Samajwadi Party has announced 14 candidates for Bihar in its first list for the Lok Sabha election.

State SP president Rajesh Ranjan 'Pappu' Yadav said his party would contest 20 of the 54 seats in the state.

Yadav, who would again contest from Purnea, said Sukhdev Yadav would be fielded from Munger, Devendra Nath Dubey from Motihari, Ajay Kumar Bulgenin from Samastipur, Satish Prasad Singh from Khagaria, Ranjeet Singh from Chatra, Surendra Prasad Rai from Dhanbad, Surendra Tyagi from Shivhar, Ranjan Kumar Singh from Aurangabad, Maulana Asrar-ul-Haque from Kishanganj, Ram Avdesh Singh from Bikramganj, Ajit Yadav from Patna, Janak Yadav from Chapra and Faiyaz Bhagalpuri from Bhagalpur.

He said the candidates for the Banka, Katihar, Bettiah, Kodarma and Vaishali constituencies would be decided later.

Yadav said his party would support anyone contesting against the Rashtriya Janata Dal as its chief Laloo Prasad Yadav was ''indirectly helping the Bharatiya Janata Party with his strategies''.

He appealed to Laloo Yadav to accept SP president Mulayam Singh Yadav's leadership to prevent the BJP from coming to power.
