Antony confident of victory

Groupism in the Kerala unit of the Congress is history, according to party leader A K Antony.

There is complete unity now, he claimed, as was displayed during Friday's Kochi rally addressed by Sonia Gandhi.

Antony said this new sense of unity and Sonia's presence have rejuvenated the party. The Congress and the United Democratic Front are confident of emerging victorious in the Lok Sabha poll.

"The party candidates will be decided before January 26. There will be new faces," he promised.

Antony claimed that there would be a re-polarisation of political forces in the state after the election. By then, he reasoned, many of the Left Democratic Front constituents would realise the need to cooperate with the Congress.

Though the Congress had suffered some initial setbacks, it was now 'gaining in strength'. And there was no doubt the election would bring a Congress-led government to power at the Centre, Antony said.
