Baburao Gadde, the NTR-TDP candidate, won 72,230 votes. This seat has been a bastion of the House of Vizianagram. P V Gajapati Raju won it twice, so did his son Ananda Gajapati Raju. Cricket fans will remember Vizianagaram for 'Vizzy' -- aka Sir Gajapatiraju Vijaya Ananda -- who led the Indian cricket team on its controversial 1936 tour of England. The same tour Lala Amarnath was sent home.
