A Madras-based burglar has built a temple at Salavakkam on the city outskirts.

The burglar, 28-year-old Mannar alias Suresh, arrested two days ago, was found to be involved in 16 cases of house-breaking. He had stolen valuables worth R 400,000. One of his victims was Union Minister of State for Petroleum T R Balu, whose T Nagar office was broken into.

Mannar confessed to the police that he had built the Muneesvaran temple in stages. It had cost him Rs 100,000.
