  It was the end of Sonia Gandhi's rally that actually provided its highlight. As the star Congress campaigner flew off in a swirl of dust, her admirers on the ground fought a desperate war for the few Sonia cut-outs that were scattered across the large ground.

Once they were cornered, the attack spread -- to anything and everything that could be grabbed as a memento. To buntings from the stage, to posters stuck on the walls, to the Congress flags, someone even wanted to take the mike home.

A solitary banner outside the Congress office at Dhule exhorted people to move to Nandurbar for the rally. But this little one couldn't care less.
