TV serials can be the death of you

Reposing blind faith in the hero of television serial, two 10-year-old girls set themselves ablaze in Karnataka -- and waited for him to come to their rescue.

The incident occurred in Dharwad district's Sattur village. Police said the girls, Avarsha Kulkarni and classmate Asma Latteppanavar, used kerosene. They believed the hero of the popular serial Shakthiman, who goes to the rescue of those in distress, would do so in their case also.

Vasha, in serious condition, has been shifted to the Karnataka Institute of Medical Science. Asma sustained minor injuries.
