Notify Cauvery tribunal award, Karunanidhi tells PM

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi has urged Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to 'attach the highest priority' to notifying the award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal.

The chief minister also raised various demands at his meeting with Vajpayee on Tuesday. These included provision of liquid fuel linkage for 15 of the 20 short-gestation power projects to be set up in the state for generating 2,307 MW of additional power and early establishment of a 2,000 MW power plant by the National Thermal Power Corporation at Cheyyur.

The other demands pertained to the supply of 300 MW of power from the eastern grid and early implementation of the Sethusamudram project.
