There is a stereotype which is usually attached to Bollywood's 'dadaji'.

But there have been times when certain actors have brought something new to the screen with their grandfather act.

John Abraham, who is 48 years old, played a grandfather in Netflix's Sardar Ka Grandson.

He mostly appears in flashback with Aditi Rao Hydari as his wife during Partition.

We've seen cool grandmas, and now it's time to see the hatke filmi grandfathers.

Joginder Tuteja takes a look.

Amitabh Bachchan, Sooryavansham, Baghban, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham

When it comes to the senior citizen act on screen, the first name that comes to mind is Amitabh Bachchan.

While he has played father in a number of films, he's remarkable as a grandfather too.

He's had his moments in Sooryavansham, Baghban, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.

Rishi Kapoor, Kapoor & Sons

Rishi Kapoor brought in a new charm when he played a granddad to Sidharth Malhotra and Fawad Khan in Kapoor & Sons.

He also played father to Rajat Kapoor, who was just nine years younger than him.

Rishi was the star of the show in this Shakun Batra directed film, as he displayed a love for everything -- from his iPad to his porn -- and formed a great bond with his grandchildren.

Anupam Kher, Vijay

Anupam Kher played Rishi Kapoor's grandfather in Vijay. Anupam is three years younger than Chintu!

Govinda, Hadh Kardi Aapne

Govinda played as many as six characters in Hadh Kardi Aapne.

Besides playing himself, he also played his grandparents, an uncle, mother and sister.

No wonder, the film was titled Hadh Kar Di Aapne as the fun was truly unlimited.

Jeetendra, Udhar Ki Zindagi

Did you know that in the initial years of her career, Kajol did a film called Udhar Ki Zindagi where Jeetendra played her grandfather?

A family social drama that went unnoticed, it featuree a song Babuji Ki Chaddi Hoon Main that had found reasonable popularity back in time.

Nana Patekar, Natsamrat

A masterpiece by film-maker Mahesh Manjrekar, the Marathi film Natsamrat featured Nana Patekar as an acclaimed theatre artiste.

He played a father and a granddad fighting his own battles.

Rajinikanth, Lingaa

When there is Rajinikanth in a film, there is entertainment guaranteed.

But when there are two of him, one can expect double the fun.

In Lingaa, he played a young man as well as his grandfather from the pre-independence era.

The film had some good sequences which worked for the masses, but overall, it didn't do well.

Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Mirzapur

If there is one twisted grandfather in current times, it is Kulbhushan Kharbanda.

As Pankaj Tripathi's father and Divyenndu Sharma's grandfather, he was a powerhouse in both the seasons of Mirzapur.

It took a different course when he developed a physical relationship with his daughter-in-law (played by Rasika Dugal), who went on to give birth to his son.
