The Kannada version also stars Abhinaya, the deaf and mute actress who received several awards and rave reviews for her performance in the original. Naadodigal was her debut film.

"The film is being produced under Rajkumar sir's home banner and Abhinaya could not have asked for a better launch in the Kannada industry. We are very thankful to Raghavendra and Puneet Rajkumar for having given our daughter an opportunity to act in the film," say Abhinaya's proud parents.

Major portions of the film are likely to be shot in Mysore, Shravanabelogala and Bangalore. While it was initially believed that Samuthirakani, the director of the Tamil film, would be roped in to direct the Kannada version as well, but now Kannada director Madesh, who has directed Puneet in Raam, has been chosen to direct.

Satya Hegde, who did the camera work for Jackie is the cinematographer for this film as well. Harikrishna who gave hit music in Jackie has also been repeated. There are chances of retaining the super hit number Shambo Shiva Shambo... composed by Sundar C Babu in the original.

Naadodigal tells the tale of three friends who put aside their goals in the interest of two love birds. However, their efforts are in vain as the lovers split later owing to differences.
