PIX: Amitabh Bachchan's BIZARRE jackets!

All eyes were on Amitabh Bachchan, the biggest superstar in the Hindi film industry, when he arrived at the 66th Cannes Film Festival for the photocall of his first Hollywood project, Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby.

Unfortunately, what he chose to wear to the event was more talked about than what he said or did there.

Dressed in a striped jacket, white trousers and white shoes, the legend's appearance was a far cry from his usually impeccably suited look and stuck out like a sore thumb amidst well tailored, simple suits/jackets worn by other men in the group.

As odd as it may seem, this isn't the first time the Big B has stumped us with his curious sartorial choice.

For the grand opening night gala where The Great Gatsby premiered, the actor wore a sparkly black tuxedo with a studded bow tie.

Needless to say, he literally outshined his costars at the screening.

At the 100 years of Indian cinema celebrations at the 12th Marrakech International Film Festival in November 2012, Mr Bachchan arrived in a wine-coloured jacket paired with his favourite pair of glasses and relatively dull trousers.

Fashioned after Pirates Of The Caribbean's famed pirate Jack Sparrow, Bachchan's cameo in Jhoom Barabar Jhoom saw him in a multicoloured quilted jacket, grey hair extensions and kohl-lined eyes as he wielded a double-necked guitar.

Living it up as the 'Sexy Sam' in Karan Johar's Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, the Big B donned snazzy sunglasses in all shapes and sizes and a flaming red jacket.

And of course, such a person CANNOT go through life without at least one fur coat.

The epitome of style and decadence, we presume.

Amitabh Bachchan plays a fashion forward genie in Sujoy Ghosh's Aladin, working a maroon trench coat and a colour-coordinated hat.

We aren't sure what caused this but the Kaun Banega Crorepati host turned up in this velvet number to attend the launch of the popular game show's fifth season.

In a relatively tamer outfit, AB posed for pictures with Sunmeet Kaur Sawhney, winner of the top prize in KBC 6.
