That former Disney star Miley Cyrus is in an overdrive to break out of her good girl image has long been established.

Her performance with singer Robin Thicke at the recently concluded VMAs (Video and Music Awards) was so racy, even Rihanna seemed outraged.

For a performance at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas over the weekend, she changed into a relatively more conservative corset-style top and hot pants, flaunting her body ink and then some.

Not one to rest on her past laurels, the 20-year-old topped her VMA shenanigans with her raciest yet outfit -- yes, actual pasties were involved -- as she performed during the same festival.

Probably the most talked about event of the year, the VMAs saw Miley twerk in a skin-coloured two piece and a foam hand that is normally brought out during basketball games in the US.

Ahead of her performance, Miley arrived on the VMAs red carpet in an odd outfit that comprised of a crop top and leggings with randomly placed colourful beads.

For the Teen Choice awards held in August at the Gibson amphitheatre in Universal City, California, she was dressed in a leather bra, sheer blouse, and a studded leather skirt with white platform heels.

Miley arrived for the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit, held in May this year, in a rather unusual Marc Jacobs outfit and spiky hair.

Sporting an all-leather outfit with a heavily studded jacket, the singer performs Billy Idol's Rebel Yell during the VH1 Divas 2012 show in Los Angeles on December 16 last year.

Yet another onstage performance at the 2010 MuchMusic Video Awards in Toronto, 2010, saw the young pop star don a cutout risque outfit and a headband.
