Actress Aishwarya Rai blows a kiss as she arrives for the screening of Robin Hood by director Ridley Scott and for the opening ceremony of the 63rd Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday.

The L'Oreal brand ambassador (the brand are the official makeup artistes at the festival) was dressed in a stunning lavender train Elie Saab gown. She chose an up-do to show off her earrings in matching lavender

The 36-year-old former beauty queen seems to have a weakness for ruffles that end in a train.

Last year too she chose to make a dramatic entry at the opening day of the festival with this strapless white Roberto Cavalli train gown.

This time Ash decided to go with the embroidered tulle and mousseline gown.

Ash was not alone.

And no, it wasn't her husband Abhishek Bachchan either who accompanied her on the red carpet.

Rather it was fellow brand ambassador and the star of Desperate Housewives, Eva Longoria.

The two gorgeous ladies share a good laugh as they worked the red carpet.

Not a difficult thing to do when one is a former beauty queen while the other is a soap star.

Day one looks to be a success judging from the reception to Ash's dramatic red carpet appearance.

We can't wait to see what the beautiful actress has in store for us next!.
