A R Rahman performed at the 84th Annual Academy Awards at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood in Los Angeles.

The The 46-year-old composer tweeted, 'Oscar sangamam - if you are watching the Oscars live, catch our Oscar superband headed by Hans Zimmer perform tonight.'

He also tweeted a picture as he wrote, 'Our Oscar superband.'

Every year the Oscars initiates a debate among the Indian celluloid lovers that why we don't have a set of awards that matters.  

With several movie critics comparing Oscars to our Indian awards, Abhishek Bachchan tweeted: 'Interesting to see/read a lot of the media comparing the Oscars to our Indian awards. Most seem to think that we need to improve... raise our standards.... Wait a minute... Aren't most of OUR awards run and held by media houses! Take the initiative, we shall follow!!'

Film journalist Rajeev Masand wrote: 'At Bollywood awards, it's often hard to find a second deserving hopeful...although they will nominate 4 others they want to please!'

But Masand's tweet didn't go well with director Sujoy Ghosh and he replied: '@RajeevMasand c'mon man.. we are not that bad also :) kuch toh izzat de..'

Music director Vishal Dadlani, on the other hand, feels Indian award shows are more about TV-ratings than talent. '@sujoy_g @RajeevMasand Izzat kamaayi jaati hai, mere dost! :D I'm with Rajeev. Indian awards shows are more about TV-ratings than talent,' he wrote back.

Meanwhile, Sonam Kapoor found all the tweets more interesting than the telecast. 'Why watch the Oscars when you have a twitter account ;)'she tweeted.
 
Whereas actor Gaurav Kapur was a light mood and shared a joke: 'If this was an Indian award show, would've ended with Meryl streep doing an Item number from Iron Lady!'

Bollywood stars congratulated the Indian Hockey Team who secured a berth in London Olympics for 8-1 victory over France on Sunday.

Deepika Padukone tweeted: 'Indian Hockey Team qualifies for the Olympics! Congratulations guys!!!'

Bipasha Basu wrote: 'Congrats to the Indian Hockey Team fr qualifying fr London Olympics:)'

Riteish Deshmukh updated: 'INDIA INDIA INDIA- dream on- well done - HOCKEY TEAM INDIA- congratulations.'

Mandira Bedi  felt proud. 'The Indian hockey team has truly done us proud.. What a win and way in to the Olympics. Kudos,' she wrote.

Punit Malhotra wrote: 'Chalo... Good news about the Hockey match!!! Way to go India... Proud of the team:)'

Sonam Kapoor also congratulated and tweeted: 'Kudos to the Indian men's hockey team. 2012 London Olympics here we come :D #proud'

Amitabh Bachchan wrote: 'Lost the cricket, but resoundingly won the Hockey .. jubilation as India qualify for London Olympics ..!! Well done team India !! Jubilation for Hockey Olympic qualification .. time was when we were the automatic choices for Gold !!'

Karan Johar is currently in Kashmir a love song for his upcoming directorial venture, Student Of The Year in Kashmir with choreographer Farah Khan.

'In the most beautiful place on earth.....Kashmir.....the joy of shooting a lip sync love song!!!' he tweeted.

He posted a picture of himself from the location as he tweeted: 'Thats me trying to outcolour the leads....'

He also managed to convince Farah to pose for him and tweeted a picture of her: 'The fasionista on set.....introducing FARAH KHAN...'
