Looking at films that were halted, blacklisted or encountered obstacles during that time.

Aandhi
Believed to be inspired by Indira Gandhi's life, Gulzar's film was banned shortly after its release.

Kissa Kursi Ka
The negatives of Amrit Nahata's political satire was seized and destroyed by then I&B minister V C Shukla because the protagonist was reportedly based on Sanjay Gandhi.

Andolan
Lekh Tandon's film dealt with the Quit India Movement.
Starring Rakesh Pandey and Neetu Singh, it was censored during the Emergency.

Chanda Marutha
The Kannada film was made just before the Emergency.
Directed by Pattabhi Rama Reddy, it featured his wife Snehlata Reddy who was jailed and died 5 days after being released on parole.

Nasbandi
I S Johar's satire mocked the forced sterilisation drive during the Emergency, using lookalikes of Amitabh Bachchan and Rajesh Khanna.
The film was banned but released in 1978 after Indira Gandhi was ousted.
