The Twitter world is quite a busy one, and Bollywood contributes a great deal to it. Here's looking at the best star tweets of the day.

The celebrations don't seem to stop for Bollywood. After the New Year and Lohri celebrations, its time for the industry to celebrate Makar Sankranti.

Dia Mirza was stuck with nostalgia as she recalled: 'Makarshankranti! One of my favorite festivals as a child! Loved flying kites atop rooftops watching the vibrant colors in the sky. Freedom! Holding a kite and setting it free, watching it become a part of the wind and dance upwards up up up in the sky!'

'The string between fingers tugging for release, controlling it yet allowing it freedom to go in the direction the kite wills it to :) Flying a kite is a little like life. Skill required but eventually the wind guides its course. #bornfree,' she added.

Marathi boy Riteish Deshmukh also tweeted his wishes: 'HAPPY MAKARSANKRANTI my friends - Til gul gyaa aani godh godh bola (til gul take and sweet sweet tell)'

Genelia D'Souza, who had been absent from Twitter promised, 'Good Morning tweethearts,, happy makarsankranthi all :) I knw I hav been a lil lost frm dis world bt vl b mre regular 4sure.'

Meanwhile, Abhishek Bachchan found many reasons to celebrate. 'Happy makar sankranti, happy pongal and happy bihu..... phew! A lot of reasons to be happy. So smile!'

Anupam Kher too seemed in a happy mood as he tweeted: 'On my way back to Mumbai. Tomorrow to Kolkota. Happy Makar Sakranti. With so many HAPPY days in a year, we should just be HAPPY.:)'

Shreya Ghoshal also tweeted her wishes: 'Wish u all a very happy Makar Sankranti and Pongal:):) Til gud ghya aani god god bola:)'

Bollywood biggies including Ranbir Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, Karan Johar and 22 others will walk the ramp together on January 23 to raise funds for the schooling of girl children in rural India.

Shabana Azmi, who is heading the cause tweeted, 'On 23 Jan Hrithik Roshan Ranbir Kapoor + 24 stars will walk ramp for MWS designed by Manish Malhotra It will be d most phenomenal show ever. Took Manish Malhotra 2 Mijwan in azamgarh He has adopted it for a year Girls from my NGO Mijwan welfare society will do chikankari 4 d stars.'

Meanwhile, the Patels and Dutts are gelling on very well. Ashmit Patel posted a picture of his mother and Manyata Dutt from his birthday bash and tweeted, '
mom n manyatta di :)' He also posted a picture of the Bigg Boss participants who were present at the party: 'with the bigg boss gang :)'

Mahesh Bhupati, on the other hand, found a friend in Anupam Kher. He tweeted: 'Had an interesting conversation with @AnupamPkher on flight today about acting..loved his one liners!!'

Meanwhile, Rahul Bose is tickled when a fan suggested he marry Gul Panag. He tweeted to Gul Panag, '@RahulBose1 & @gulpanag should get married to each other... They look made for each other types...." If wishes...'

Telugu director Harish Shankar S may have failed to impress the critics with his latest Mirapakai. But he managed to shock Ram Gopal Verma who tweeted, 'Shock director shocked me with mirapakaaya..the best entertainer I saw in recent years. Now I realized that if I dint interfere in shock even there he would have shocked the audience.'

Meanwhile, Ameesha Patel was delighted with her Telugu film Parama Veera Chakra. She tweeted, 'I'm soo proud to have soo many loving fans n I hope to do many more telugu films.'

And as a fan praised her acting, the delighted actress replied, 'that's extremely heartening to know. My director was excellent n managed 2 exttact good performances from all actors.'

Mahesh Bhatt who was at the "Lohri beti ke naam" a function organised by the National Integrated Forum of Artistes and Activists (NIFAA) to stop the female foeticide posted a picture from the function. He tweeted, 'Save the girl child! The message to the nation on Lohri at press meet in Haryana ( KARNAL).'

Another celebrity supporting a good cause is Sidhartha Mallya. The son of business scion Vijay Mallya who supports the NGO Olympic Gold Quest tweeted: 'Only 2 days to go till its marathon time...thank u to those of you who have donated, it means a lot....pls spread the word about the cause!'

Vivek Oberoi, on the other hand, supported his sister as he requested everyone to visit her art exhibition called Nirvana. 'Pls give her ur love and support, pray for her show to be a big success! And all the wonderful people of bengaluru, it's a humble request, pls go and see her work and encourage her. A heartfelt thank u in anticipation,' he tweeted.
