A R Rahman was among Time's 100 most influential people in the world, who was honoured in New York's Lincoln centre on Tuesday. Rahman flew in from India after his flight was delayed by six hours. The New York Police had to escort him from JFK Airport to the Lincoln centre.
Also spotted at the red carpet was producer, DJ, singer and fashion designer M.I.A whose global influence across many genres has earned her a place on this year's list.
Hollywood heartthrob Zac Efron also made it to Time Magazine's list. Efron, who rose to stardom with Disney's High School Musical series, has joined the likes of Barack Obama, George Clooney, Oprah Winfrey and Brad Pitt in magazine's annual list of the top 100 influential figures.
And Efron's Me And Orson Welles co-star Claire Danes admits that he deserves the honour. '(Working with Zac) I couldn't help being reminded of the time I had spent with another gifted idol, Leonardo DiCaprio, about a decade before,' Contactmusic quoted Danes as telling the mag.
