Mamta Kulkarni's Top 7 Songs

It's been a while since Mamta Kulkarni entertained us in the movies. As she turned 53 on April 20, Subhash K Jha revisits her popular songs.

Mujhko Rana Ji Maaf Karna from Karan Arjun
Strangely, Kajol -- who was paired with Shah Rukh Khan -- had only one song, the duet Jaati Hoon Main.
Mamta, who was paired with Salman Khan, got two solos.
Mujhko Rana Ji Maaf Karna was a raunchy chartbuster sung by Alka Yagnik, who calls this one of her biggest hits and credits Mamta's dance moves for its success.

Ek Munda Meri Umra Da from Karan Arjun
The other chartbuster in Karan Arjun was Ek Munda Meri Umra Da, the only Lata Mangeshkar song on Mamta's filmography.
Apparently, Mamta didn't have an easy time shooting with Salman Khan whose pranks she did not appreciate.
"I never pampered the hero's ego, I just did my work and went home," she said.

Chudiyan Bajaungi from Betaaj Badshah
While this multi-starrer was a box office disaster, Mamta had this popular song rendered by Poornima (Sushma Shrestha).
After this, Mamta was apparently flooded with offers to do item songs but was only interested if offered the lead.

Bharo Maang Meri Bharo from Sabse Bada Khiladi
Mamta really got along with Akshay Kumar, and they sizzled in this number composed by Rajesh Roshan.

Rojapoo Kavilathu from Chandamama
Mamta's only item song for a Malayalam film.
Sujatha Menon rendered the song and Mamta brought the house down with her dance moves.

Mausam Hai Mastana from Waqt Hamara Hai
Alka Yagnik crooned this Nadeem-Shravan chartbuster with a history.
Mamta's role was to be played by Producer Sajid Nadiadwala's wife Divya Bharti, who died tragically.

Oye Rabba Meri Jaan Bacha from Tirangaa
Mamta has spoken about the 'ridiculous' things heroines are made to do in commercial cinema.
Like in this song where she plays a comatose patient in a hospital, who suddenly jumps out of bed and starts lip-syncing in Kavita Krishnamurthy's voice.
