Like the trailer of Emraan Hashmi's Ek Thi Daayan?

In the darkness, there is an elevator.

First Emraan Hashmi rises implausibly to the very top of what looks like a skyscraper, then steps out of the elevator into an abyss, an applause-filled arena where he stretches his hands out in triumph: he's the star attraction. Or is he?

He then studies a big leather tome and muses thoughtfully about the cliches of what we expect a witch to be, what we expect her to look like. How we expect her power to stay coiled inside her long, serpentine braid.

We see this braid, and as the music gets more ominous, we're told that 'Every high-rise has a hell.'

A girl laughs, a witch bobble-head bobbles, Huma Qureshi looks spooked, and Kalki Koechlin shows up as an eerie 'Queen' who, evidently, 'must return.'

Kannan Iyer's directorial debut, aside from all the flickering light, looks most intriguing, and the apparent idea of casting Kalki as a pale, The Ring-style entity is as solid as they come.

Hashmi, too, looks suitably solemn -- except when he mentions wisdom about witches from ancient scientists.

Will we finally have a good scary movie with Ek Thi Daayan? Let's hope so.
