The latest updates from the Malayalam film industry.
After winning hearts as a chocolate hero, Nivin Pauly is all set to play the infamous robber Kayamkulam Kochunni in Rosshan Andrrews’ forthcoming project, scripted by Bobby and Sanjay.
Kochunni is part of the folklore in Kerala, where he is known as the desi Robin Hood, stealing from the rich for the benefit of the poor.
In 1966, a film on Kayamkulam Kochunni was made with Sathyan in the title role.
Nivin will first complete Sidhartha Siva’s film and Althaf’s debut venture in Malayalam before stepping into this venture.
Dileep and Siddharth in Kammara Sambhavam
Dileep is teaming up with Rang De Basanti actor Siddharth for Rathish Ambat’s directorial debut Kammara Sambhavam, which has Murali Gopy as the scenarist.
Rumours are rife that Tamannaah Bhatia is a part of the project, but the actress has rubbished all reports.
Earlier, Siddharth had tweeted, 'Privileged to be teaming up with the venerable actor Dileep and will be dubbing myself in my Malayalam debut.'
Meanwhile, Dileep, who was seen recently in Adoor Gopalakrishnan’s Pinneyum, has Sundar Das’ Welcome to Central Jail coming up on Onam.
Amala to team up with Manju Warrier
Amala Akkineni will team up with Manju Warrier in Antony Sony’s C/O Saira Banu.
The film shoot will start soon.
Amala, who has made her mark in Telugu and Hindi films, has a huge fan following in Kerala even now though her Malayalam films -- Ente Sooryaputhrikku and Ulladakkam -- released 25 years ago, in 1991!
Shane Nigam, who featured in the recent film Kismath, has an important role in the film.
C/O Saira Banu has script by RJ Shaan and dialogues by Bipin Chandran.
