The most recent combination of onscreen newcomers is Actors Mansi Joshi Roy and Rohit Roy's daughter Kiara Bose Roy and Producer Sajid Nadiadwala's son Subhan.
They are doing a film Aisee Deewangee, produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and directed by Shashank Khaitan.
Both are star children born and bred in filmy privilege. And nothing wrong with that. For all we know, they may be extremely talented youngsters.
The Debate on Outsiders in Bollywood
But what happens to aspiring actors from outside the film industry? When was the last time we saw fresh talent from outside the entertainment industry in Hindi or Telugu cinema?
Manoj Bajpayee, one of the rare outsiders from outside the industry who made it, feels the prospects for outsiders is narrowing.
"When I came in, there was a massive opposition to my being cast in lead roles. If it wasn't for Ram Gopal Varma's Satya I would probably be playing only goons and henchmen. After me there was Sushant Singh Rajput who was hounded by industry insiders. I know how much he suffered. Now there is Kartik Aaryan. But what after that?"
