This is the first time that Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurana share screen space, and that's good reason for us to be excited about Gulabo Sitabo.

Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana's film, Gulabo Sitabo, promises fun and entertainment, and needless to say, fine performances.

Directed by Shoojit Sircar, the dramedy is written by Juhi Chaturvedi who seems to have mastered the art of creating meaningful scripts filled with equal doses of humour and emotion. And Gulabo Sitabo, it appears, is no exception.

The trailer introduces us to Mirza (Amitabh Bachchan), a 78-year-old landlord who owns a mansion in Lucknow. Ayushmann plays his tenant, Baankey. Both of them can't stand each other.

While Baankey never gets tired of complaining about the mansion, Mirza wants him to vacate the premises.

Mirza and Baankey squabble throughout the trailer and their banter is hilarious.

The story takes a twist when Mirza's lawyer asks him to sell the mansion to get rid of his tenants. That's when other characters jump in and the ride becomes more chaotic and eventful.

Bachchan seems to have nailed the Mirza part perfectly. His annoying behaviour will remind you of his character from Shoojit's Piku. He has something special in store for us performance wise once again.

Ayushmann excels at comedy and we are sure he won't disappoint us.

Having said that, his character seems to be in a familiar space; the actor has been playing a North Indian guy in most of his recent films. Because of this, Ayushmann's role lacks freshness.

Gulabo Sitabo looks promising, courtesy its quirky script and the ensemble cast, including Vijay Raaz and Brijendra Kala.

Since Shoojit and Juhi have delivered blockbusters like Piku and Vicky Donor, our expectations are very high from their latest film.

This is the first time that Amitabh and Ayushmann share screen space and that's good reason for us to be excited about Gulabo Sitabo.

Gulabo Sitabo premieres on Amazon Prime Video on June 12.
