Never one to complain about her circumstances, Preity Zinta is making the best of her prolonged isolation in Los Angeles.

"My husband (Gene Goodenough) and I have been home for 22 days now," Preity tells Subhash K Jha. "It has been tough, but we are staying as positive and productive as we can."

Preity is doing what she hardly gets a chance to do.

"I am learning a lot of new recipes from my mom who is in India. I learnt to make dosas and they turned out quite well if I may say so myself."

But it's not all food and no exercise for Preity.

"I do work out with Gene at home. We are not going to the gym, but we manage to do enough exercises at home to enjoy thedosa without feeling guilty," she says.

Preity also makes sure to keep with the news back home in India.

She caught Prime Minister Narendra Damodardas Modi's light-a-diya-on-Sunday-night message, and dutifully did her bit.

The actress is concerned about the plight of daily wage earners in India.

"It is a crazy time and my heart goes out to all those unfortunate people who don't have food to eat and shelter over their heads. I wish I could do something for them," she says.

She is very proud of the administrative workforce in India which is working relentlessly to combat the coronavirus.

"It is very heartwarming to see the healthcare people and those who are working in essential services like cleaning and sanitation, banking, police, grocery, etc... they have shown so much courage and efficiency by being in the front lines when everyone else is sitting at home."
