'They pushed me out of the truck (carrying Rajesh Khanna's body). What could be more mean than this? They didn't want me in the last journey. What can be more violent than this?'
Anita Advani explains her case against Dimple Kapadia and her family.
The Supreme Court has issued a notice to actress Dimple Kapadia on a petition filed by Anita Advani, seeking the restoration of her complaint about being subjected to domestic violence.
Advani, who was the late superstar Rajesh Khanna's live-in partner for the last 10 years of his life, claims that she was subjected to violence by Khanna's estranged wife, Dimple Kapadia, his elder daughter, Twinkle, and her husband, actor Akshay Kumar.
The Bombay High Court had quashed Advani’s complaint in 2013 but the apex court bench, headed by Chief Justice H L Dattu, overruled the High Court's judgement and issued a notice to Dimple on Advani’s plea.
Advani speaks to Syed Firdaus Ashraf/Rediff.com about the matter:
The Supreme Court has sent a notice to Dimple Kapadia about the domestic violence case. How do you feel about it?
I find there is justice and truth has prevailed.
What is your case against Dimple Kapadia?
I was in a relationship with him (Rajesh Khanna). I was privately married to him. I lived with him for so many years when there was nobody else to look after or even bother to visit him. They had their own lives. When the time came, unfortunately, they came for you-know-what (Rajesh Khanna's property).
(Note: Aashirwad, Khanna’s bungalow in the posh Mumbai suburb, Bandra, was sold for about Rs 90 crore within two years of his death on July 18, 2012, by Dimple Kapadia and her family.)
Have you had any communication with Dimple Kapadia after Rajesh Khanna died?
Have they ever treated you badly after Rajesh Khanna died?
Absolutely. Everything I had was taken away.
Did they tell you to leave the place?
How long were you living with Rajesh Khanna?
I lived with him for the last 10 years of his life.
When did Dimple Kapadia and her daughters Twinkle and Rinkie come into the picture?
In the last few months before his death.
What is the domestic violence case against Dimple Kapadia?
If you perpetrate violence on someone, you push a person from the house and take everything, that is violence.
What about economic violence?
What about mental and physical trauma?
If somebody pushes you out of the house when the person you are so close to is dying, what would you go through? Hell!
Are you saying Dimple Kapadia's family pushed you physically out of the house when Rajesh Khanna was alive?
They pushed me out of the truck (carrying Rajesh Khanna's body) as well. What could be more mean than this?
They didn't want me in the last journey. What can be more violent than this?
Who pushed you out of the vehicle?
Akshay Kumar asked them to push me out of the vehicle.
So who is your case against?
My case is against Dimple Kapadia, Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna. Not Rinkie anymore.
What is the next step?
Now, they have to come and argue (in the Supreme Court).
