Akshay, John, Salman spread coronavirus awareness

April 28, 2020 19:37 IST

With everything -- but the amazing work India's medical teams are doing to bring the coronavirus pandemic under control -- at a standstill during the national lockdown, film folk are trying to spread awareness about the coronavirus.

And not just through generous donations.

The stars have been spreading awareness through videos posted on social media, adding some creativity into it as well, with the limited resources at hand.

Joginder Tuteja takes a look at what these stars have done.

Akshay Kumar

Akshay was the first to record messages for people to stay at home. He has been making appearances in various videos as well.

Akshay made sure that his chartbuster track from Kesari, Teri Mitti, took a new avatar with Arko, Manoj Muntashir and B Praak coming together to salute the heroes at the frontline of the war against coronavirus.

John Abraham

John recently released a video Mera Bharat Mahaan.

Put together by Milap Zaveri, director of his Satyameva Jayate and its coming sequel, Mera Bharat Mahaan is a tribute to the warriors against coronavirus -- doctors, nurses, medical staff, police personnel and others.

Kartik Aaryan

First, Kartik Aaryan came up with a monologue Karo Na, which went viral.

Now he is hosting a chat show -- #KokiPoochega -- where he has interviewed a COVID-19 survivor, doctor and a cop.

Ajay Devgn

In just one week, Ajay Devgn has come up with two videos.

The first to create awareness around the Aarogya Setu app that helps identify likely COVID-19 positive Indians.

Then, Ajay released a well made music video, Thahar Ja, based on the #StayAtHome initiative.

Salman Khan

Salman Khan has been posting video messages about the precautions one must take to stay safe.

The latest is a music video, Pyaar Karon, for which he has sung and contributed to Hussain Dalal's lyrics.

Composed by Sajid-Wajid and produced by Aditya Dev, the song is already popular among his fans.

Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Diljit Dosanjh, Priyanka Chopra and others

Amitabh Bachchan leads a video about social distancing which was released at the onset of the national lockdown.

Stars from the Bengali, Hindi, Punjabi and South Indian film industries joined Bachchan as he sets out to look for his kaala chashma.

Rohit Shetty

One of the first videos to have come out of Bollywood was courtesy Rohit Shetty who brought together Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh and Varun Dhawan in a video.

The idea was to share a simple message -- maintain hygiene, wash hands, physical distancing.

Jackky Bhagnani

Jackky Bhagnani's initiative is a music video Muskurayega India.

Along with Akshay Kumar, Jackky put this one together with Tiger Shroff, Kartik Aryan, Bhumi Pednekar, Rajkummar Rao, Vicky Kaushal, Ayushmann Khurrana, Kriti Sanon, Kiara Advani and Sidharth Malhotra playing stellar roles.

Ayushmann Khurrana

'Aaj mere paas koyi shabd nahi hai'.

With these words, Ayushmann Khurranna has unleashed a flurry of poems.

Acknowledging the heroic work COVID-19 warriors do each day, spreading awareness about the best way to keep one safe in the times of the pandemic, Ayushmann's videos are endearing.
