Priya (1978)
This S P Muthuraman-directed film capitalised on the fame of both Rajnikanth and Sridevi, who were making waves in the South at that time.
The film tracks the story of Priya, an actress who goes to a lawyer to get her out of difficulties but the film actually makes a masala mish-mash of a fairly decent Sujatha novel with his lawyer duo, Ganesh-Vasanth.
In the film, the main characters were completely unrecognisable prompting the writer to complain vociferously about his characters being mauled.
In a weird twist, this film was more successful than some others in terms of songs, Sridevi's oomph factor and Rajni's stylised acting.
