Jaya Pradha, making an incredibly comeback, plays Shilpa's mother, who is also a trained Odissi dancer. She said, "I have never been away from films. I have always done films and will continue to do films. In this film, I specially liked the character -- Sarala Kulkarni -- an Odissi dancer. I always wanted to do meaningful films and I think this suits the bill perfectly. This is the first time I am working with Shilpa and it is like a competition between Shilpa and me. It feels like deja vu, when I used to have competitions with Sridevi. We took special training for the Odissi dance, to get the moves, nuances and expressions right."

Talking about Jaya Pradha's dancing skills, the director said, "She is a wonderful dancer who has played a dancer in many films. Both, Shilpa and Jaya are professional dancers and they took special training from Ravikant Mohapatra."
