The best of Kamal Haasan

Apoorva Raagangal (1975)

After acting out the enthusiastic kiddo in many movies, it was finally time for Haasan to make his entry into world of adult heroes.

He promptly did do this by choosing a wide variety of roles that showcased his versatility.

The role that undoubtedly catapulted him into the big and controversial league was K Balachander's Apoorva Ragangal (Rare Melodies) in 1975. He played the young lover to an older woman, Bhairavi (Srividya, in a pivotal character).

Haasan's sensitive portrayal of an older woman's lover (Srividya), the intelligent dialogues and radical theme meant that the public were exposed to a completely new line of thinking.

And though the film received it's share of flak, it nevertheless proved that Haasan could act.
