Charlize visited many a Hollywood agent only to be consistently turned down, but things changed one day at a bank. Being told that she was trying to cash an outstation cheque, a furious Theron caused quite a scene at the counter -- following which an impressed agent gave her his card.
It wasn't all sorted, though. Theron wasn't fluent in English, and the agent's only condition for taking her as a client was that she learn the language immediately.
Theron rose to the challenge and did this immediately. She now says that soap operas on television were her biggest learning aids.
