'I enjoy roles that have more quirks'

Currently straddling Pagli alongside Warner Brothers' first Indian production, Chandni Chowk To China, Sheorey's building himself up an extremely eclectic filmography. 2006 was a smashing for him because of Pyaar Ke Side Effects and Khosla Ka Ghosla, both hit films where he had great roles, supporting acts that really stole the show.

"But both those films, while comedies, were very different kinds of roles," he says, admitting the fact that while he gets offered more comic roles than the other kind, he's okay with that as long as he gets enough scope to vary his characters.

2007 saw him go even more assorted, with roles ranging from an unfunny junkie in Traffic Signal, an exaggerated buffoon in Bheja Fry, a cross-eyed former smoker in No Smoking and a surprisingly poignant Madhuri-smitten loser in Aaja Nachle. "It isn't as if I'm trying to hunt out unfunny roles or stop being branded as a comic actor, it's just that I enjoy roles that have more quirks. There is so much you can do with comedy, and I enjoy working at it."
