Now you can be Obi-Wan Kenobi
March 06, 2007 17:59 IST

Obi-Wan Kenobi's cloak from Star Wars (1977), worn in the film by Alec GuinnessThe galaxy isn't as far, far away as it used to be.

Alec Guinness' iconic cloak (left) from the 1977 epic Star Wars, where the actor played Obi-Wan Kenobi, headlines a unique memorabilia auction taking place at Bonhams, UK.

The merchandise -- which includes Sean Connery's suit from Highlander, Gary Oldman's Sirius Black costume from Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban, Richard Burton's suit of armour from Cleopatra, Mel Gibson's costume from Braveheart and Jeremy Brett's long overcoat from the classic Sherlock Holmes TV series -- is provided by London-based fancy dress store, Angels.

The BBC quotes Angels chairman Tim Angels saying that the decision to sell the items was saddening but unavoidable. "With over a century and a half's worth of costumes on the racks, each with ever increasing insurance requirements, and space at a premium, it seemed the right time for us to allow collectors and fans the chance to take home a piece of the movie magic," said Angels.

Currently, fans are having a blast at Bonhams, where the salesroom has been turned into a star's fitting room -- giving prospective buyers the chance to wear James Bond's dinner jacket or one of Madonna's Evita dresses.
