According to director Sathyan Anthikkad, Meera was not considered in Vinodayathra initially, as she was busy with other films.

"But I felt only she can do justice to the role of Anupama and she made time for the film," gushes Sathyan. "Now, I cannot imagine anyone else doing that role. She was perfect."

Amidst her busy schedules in Tamil cinema, Meera finds time for only a few Malayalam films. But she makes them all memorable.

In Vinodayathra, she played a matured engineering student who had to discontinue her studies to shoulder her family responsibilities. She meets Vinod (Dileep) and exerts a tremendous influence on him.

At a time when heroines have nothing more to do than look pretty and dance to the hero's tunes, Meera continues to be different.
