The rare, first movies of Bollywood's best

Awashesh (Girish Kasaravalli)

Another 20-minute film was Girish Kasaravalli's Awashesh. Made in 1975, the film talks about the human need for affection and attention. Like Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Kasaravalli also made his acting debut in the film.

A little boy and his grandmother are shown to be neglected by their family. The family is either too old to play with the boy or too busy to attend to the grandmother.

So the two shower love and affection on each other.

Unlike his contemporaries who jumped the Bollywood bandwagon, Girish chose to stay in his hometown and make Kannada films. Though he has made only 11 films in a span of 25 years, many of them are award-winning.
