'There won't be another Rang De Basanti for me'

Text: Arthur J Pais

Aamir Khan is ready with his first directorial venture, Taare Zameen Par, and expectations are obviously sky-high.

Ask the star if there a common thread between his first production, Lagaan, and Taare Zameen Par and he claims that both films deal with empowerment.

"In Lagaan, we dealt with the triumph of the human spirit," Aamir says. "Here, we watch the triumph of a child's mind, and by extension, the triumph of minds of all children."

But Aamir adds that he is not in a hurry to direct another film.

"When I came across this project, I wasn't thinking of turning to direction," he says. "But I found the script so compelling that I had to direct the film. It was as if the script found me. Besides, the writer Amole Gupte whom I had known from my college days, entrusted the film to me. His confidence in me was a humbling factor and made me more than determined to do justice to his script."
