This film finds mention because of Sahir Ludhianvi's beautiful poetry and Jaidev's music. Dev Anand usually preferred composer S D Burman but, in Hum Dono, he tried out Burman's assistant. Years later, when I asked Dev Anand why he chose Jaidev, he replied, "I think Burman didn't have the dates."

The songs Main zindagi ka saath nibhata chala gaya and Abhi na jao chod kar are treats for young lovers, while Allah Tero Naam has become a popular bhajan.
