Smriti Irani and Sudha ShivpuriAfter showcasing the melodramatic exploits of the Virani family for five years, Star TV's superhit television soap Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is ready to take a generation jump.

But the show's creator Ekta Kapoor [Images] firmly denies rumours about actors being signed on to play various roles.

"Why is everyone talking about me signing this and that actor? Who has signed these actors? It may be some other production house wanting to make their own Kyunkii Saas!" Ekta exclaims.

The trials and tribulations of Kyunkii Saas!

She reveals that she has signed only two actors for the next generation -- Amit Tandon and Akashdeep Sehgal.

"We are working on the changes in Kyunkii. It was supposed to happen on April 7, but has been pushed back to April 20," says Ekta.

"It will still be Tulsi's (Smriti Irani [Images]) story. Ba (Sudha Shivpuri) will be out after 20 episodes of the next generation. Savita (Apara Mehta) will die, followed by Ba. Tulsi will take over the role of Ba. A young character called Tulsi Krishna will come in as the third generation, exactly how Kyunkii began five years ago," she adds.

For the role of Tulsi Krishna, Balaji Telefilms [Get Quote] received 60,000 applications.

"Our computer crashed and we had to start our search from scratch. Among the fresh characters on Kyunkii, Tulsi Krishna is the most vital. I hope she continues the Tulsi legacy," says Ekta.

Hasn't Iqbal Khan of Kaisa Yeh Pyarr Hai been signed on for Kyunkii? "No, not for Kyunkii," reveals Ekta.

"I will do a fresh show with him. He is awesome and such a nice guy. Iqbal, Hiten Tejwani and Eijaaz Khan are my three actors who remain down-to-earth. Eijaaz is the male lead in my new serial Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka on Star One," says Indian television's soap queen.

"Nimmo is played by a new girl, Sanjita. I found her at a Zoom (a television channel) party. I learnt that she had auditioned for a role in Kahani Ghar Ghar Kii. I saw the audition, and she was on. That's how I hope to find my Tulsi Krishna."
