You probably saw the Hindi Chachi 420, but as always the original is better, never mind if even that was inspired from Mrs Doubtfire. Once again Crazy Mohan's dialogues lift the comedy, but it is Kamal in drag who ultimately carries the day.

Varumaiyin Niram Sigappu (1980)

The year was 1980, the economy was quite unlike what it is today. Unemployment was rampant, and as teenagers slowly heading into adulthood the angst was all-pervasive. Capturing the bleakness of youths' existence was this movie from K Balachander. There was a twist to the tale. Since 16 Vayadhinile released three years ago, director Bharati Raja was the darling of the masses, and it was fashionable to diss the veteran KB. Diwali of 1980 saw both release films centering around unemployment, and it's obvious who scored, with not a little help from Kamal.
