The return of Mihir Virani

The mass hysteria over Mihir's death remains untouched. Star TV executives fondly remember how mail boxes crashed, thanks to the number of requests from all over the country, wanting Mihir to return.

Newspapers carried articles on how the nation would deal with a tragedy of the magnitude of Mihir Virani's death. The rating of the serial touched an all-time-high of 22.4 when Mihir returned home -- just in time to stop Tulsi (Smriti Irani) from getting married to Mandira's brother.

Mihir has by far been the most popular character in the serial, of course after his on-screen wife, Tulsi. In the casting contest before the serial was launched, there were two lead runners for the role -- Cezzane Khan and Amar Upadhyay. Ultimately, the balance tilted in favour of Upadhyay.
