Ash was not the director's first choice. Gurinder wanted Karisma and Kareena Kapoor to play Namrata and Ash's roles respectively.

Johnny Depp and Joaquin Phoenix were first offered Mr Darcy's part. Even Shah Rukh Khan was offered a role in the film.

The film has been shot across the world -- in Gurinder's native London, in Amritsar, Goa, Mumbai, Sedona, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and Los Angeles.
