Jhankaar Beats has been in the making for a long time. And it landed in controversy even before it was completed.

Debutant director Sujoy Ghosh had approached Viveck Vaswani to produce his film. But Vaswani rejected Ghosh's script, apparently because he found the story, which revolves around three youths in an advertising agency working on a condom campaign, 'smutty'. Soon after, however, Vaswani asked Anant Mahadevan to direct another film based on the same concept. That's how Dil Vil Pyar Vyar happened -- a film based on three couples and woven around R D Burman's music.

Jhankaar Beats has music by Vishal-Shekhar, who have also transplanted Pancham's rhythms, orchestration and sound patterns into their original and contemporary tunes.

The film is scheduled for an April release.
