Alaap (1977)

Alaap was Rekha's second film with Amitabh Bachchan after Do Anjaane. This Hrishikesh Mukherjee film revolved around Aloke (Bachchan) who wanted to become a singer against the wishes of his rich father.

Aloke leaves home and meets Radhiya (Rekha). He marries her, continues his study of music and drives a tonga to support his family.

The film had excellent music by Jaidev, but flopped at the box office.

Rekha became a star right after her first Hindi film, Sawan Bhadon. She had once said as a teenager, stardom bothered her a lot as she could no longer go to the stores or take walks.
