Pooja Batra arrested in assault case

Model-turned film actress Pooja Batra and her brother, Chetan, were arrested yesterday in a case of alleged assault and subsequently released on personal bond of Rs 950 each, police said.

The duo assaulted a postman who came to their residence at Aishwarya building in suburban Andheri to deliver a letter sent by speed post.

The postman insisted that Pooja receive the mail personally because the letter was addressed to her. However, Chetan said he would receive it on her behalf. This led to a verbal fight between the two, police said.

Pooja came out of the house and joined her brother in the brawl with the postman. According to a complaint lodged by the postman, they allegedly banged his head against a wall as a result of which he suffered injuries.

The postman, who was treated at Cooper hospital, filed a complaint with the D N Nagar police station, Bombay.

Pooja and her brother were arrested and granted bail because it is a bailable offence.
