Shah Rukh meets Dalai Lama to seek blessings for Asoka

Shah Rukh Khan The Hindi film industry's darling Shah Rukh Khan visited Bylakuppe, near Medikeri, to seek the blessings of the Dalai Lama at a personal audience on August 1, 2001.

Shah Rukh said he had come to Bylakuppe to seek the blessings of the spiritual leader, as his film Asoka is soon to be released.

Khan was accompanied by Juhi Chawla's better half, Jay Mehta.

Say No To Shahtoosh -- Madhuri and Manisha's style statement

Manisha Koirala Leading Indian designers will team up with film stars to endorse the global 'anti shahtoosh' campaign at the India Fashion Week that begins in Bombay on August 6.

Film stars Manisha Koirala, Madhuri Dixit, designers like Ritu Kumar and Gitanjali Kashyap along with the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) will campaign against the use of the shahtoosh shawl, a prized possession in northern India for centuries.

The campaign launched by Wildlife Trust of India and the International Fund for Animal Welfare will see the celebrities speaking against the use of shahtoosh on August 10 and 11.

More than 20000 animals of the endangered Tibetan antelope species are killed every year in China to feed the shawl weaving industry in Jammu and Kashmir, which is the only processing centre of shahtoosh wool in the world.

Home minister L K Advani watches Dil Chahta Hai

Aamir Khan The cast and crew of Dil Chahta Hai -- Farhan Akhtar's first feature film are on promotional tour to the capital city Delhi.

The highlight of the tour -- a private screening of the film for home minister L K Advani and special guests from the film industry.

The film stars Aamir Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Sonali Kulkarni, Preity Zinta and Saif Ali Khan and will be the comeback vehicle for actress Dimple Kapadia.

Dil Chahta Hai is made with natural sound unlike most Hindi films which are dubbed. Shot in a tight schedule of 108 days on location in Sydney, Goa and Bombay, it is scheduled for an August 10 release.

Madhuri Dixit is back in the reckoning

Madhuri Dixit Queen Bee Madhuri Dixit will make her comeback coming Friday with Yeh Raaste Hain Pyaar Ke.

And with Lajja around the corner the Dixit lady, who was written off after her marriage, is set to prove her critics wrong.

Yaadein beats Jurassic Park 3

Yaadein Yaadein broke all records for weekend collection in North America.

Subhash Ghai's blockbuster has grossed US $646,615 ranking in top 20 Grossers at Box Office in the US. It is also the first Hindi film to collect this amount.

It stood at No 3 on per screen average with an average of $11529 after Planet Of The Apes and Ghost World even beating Jurassic Park 3 which had an average of $ 3439.
