All for a name!

Komal Nahta

And for all you trivia buffs, here's how Hrithik Roshan got his name.

It is well known that Papa Raakesh Roshan is a great believer of astrology.

When Hrithik was born, Raakesh consulted an astrologer before deciding on a name for him. Some prompt calculations later, the astrologer announced that H was the most auspicious letter.

Now, Raakesh was in a fix. All male members of the Roshan household have their names beginning with R.

And, considering Raakesh Roshan's obsession with letters -- his films begin with the letter K, remember? -- he was truly in a dilemma.

It did strike him that the newborn could be christened with a name that starts with H and a pet name that begins with R.

But then, Raakesh Roshan is not one to take the easy way out. He cleverly solved the problem, by coming up with a name like Hrithik which, when spelt, began with the letter H, but when pronounced, started with R. Incidentally, Hrithik's pet name is Duggu, which is the reverse of papa Roshan's pet name, Guddu!

Now, here's a question that could qualify as the pandrahvaan sawaal (15th question) on KBC: What is Hrithik's surname?

Nope. It isn't Roshan. Roshan is just the shortform of grandfather Roshanlal's name, which Raakesh and Rajesh adopted as their last name.

As for the correct answer, it is Nagrath. Lock kiya jaaye!
