TRAI gets ISO 9001:2000 licence

January 05, 2005 18:26 IST
Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has obtained the quality management system certificate licence under ISO 9001:2000 from Bureau of Indian Standards.

TRAI is one of the first few regulatory bodies in the world to obtain the quality management certificate licence under ISO 9001:2000.

With a view to streamline its existing procedures and systematise its functions, TRAI had engaged Rites Ltd as consultant in September last year to establish an institutionalised system for quality in various operations of the organisation.

The establishment of the quality management system will ensure a systematic environment for management of processes, consistency in working, measurability of performance, customer focus and increased customer satisfaction.

This will improve efficiency and effectiveness besides focussing on continual improvement and proactive approach, TRAI said.
