Trai asks Bharti to provide interconnectivity to TTSL

January 09, 2003 19:40 IST

Ending a month-long stalemate over interconnectivity, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India on Thursday directed Bharti Cellular to allow its network for the calls originating from Tata Teleservices' wireless in loop-based limited mobile services.

"Trai hereby directs you under section 13 of Trai (Amendment) Act, 2000 to ensure completion of calls originating in TTSL network and terminating in your (Bharti) netwrok with immediate effect," Trai said in its letter to Bharti.

Trai said that as per the cellular services licence agreement it was mandatory for cellular mobile service providers to provide interconnectivity to all other telecom services for smooth flow of traffic and to meet the quality of services norm end-to-end as well as on the interconnection links.

"Selective blocking of calls, as reported, is highly objectionable and violative of the licence agreement," it said.
