Power crisis to cost jobs in Rajasthan

March 04, 2006 14:43 IST
Over 50,000 labourers engaged in about 350 industrial units in Rajasthan are likely to lose their jobs in the next couple of weeks if the power situation does not improve in the state.

It may be mentioned here that the Rajasthan government from last Sunday has been resorting to 24-hour power cuts on units consuming over 1 mw of power daily.

Most of the big units in Rajasthan are in a state of zero-production due to this imposition of the power cut. Caught this power crisis, it is becoming increasingly difficult for these industrial units to pay wages especially when no production is being carried out.
