National Aluminium Company Ltd, the largest alumina-aluminium producer and exporter of the country, has planned a Rs 4000-crore investment in capacity expansion.

The company was awaiting government approval to implement the second round of expansion, which would enhance bauxite mining capacity to 6.3 million tonnes, aluminium refining capacity to 2.1 million tonnes, aluminium capacity to 460,000 tonnes and power generation installed capacity to 1200 mw, managing director C Venkatramana said on the occasion of Nalco's 24th foundation day in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.

Apart from stage-wise capacity expansion, Nalco had added downstream facilities like billet casting, strip casting and rolling mills in metal segment and special alumina and zeolite in alumina segment to achieve value addition, he said.

Reflecting on past performance, he said Nalco had established outstanding benchmarks in capacity utilisation.
