Mocha plans 65 new outlets

Mumbai based Mocha, a leading coffee and desert destination, has drawn out a massive expansion plan to go international and launch 65 outlets in the country, involving an investment of more than Rs 30 crore (Rs 300 million).

Riyaaz Amlani, CEO of Mocha Coffee and Conversation, said as part of the expansion plans, the company would open its first international outlet in Dubai in April, 2006 and in Sri Lanka, a month after.

"As part of the expansion plans, Mocha has shortlisted 65 A and B towns in the country to spread by 2008, its fervour-a fervour that has already set afire the cities of Mumbai, Delhi and Ahmedabad," Amlani said.

During 2006, 25 outlets would be opened and in the next three months, Mocha would launch its lounges in Jaipur, Bangalore and Hyderabad, he added.

a whiff of Morocco, a taste of the Mediterranean, glimpses of the Polynesian and the splendour of Brazil, all at one destination.

"Mocha is the only coffee lounge in the country that offers 19 different gourmet coffee beans, imported from the leading coffee growing countries like Jamaica, Guatemala, Hawaii, Kenya and Ethiopia to name a few," Amlani claimed.

The rapidly growing coffee segment market was estimated to be Rs 100 crore (Rs 1 billion). Mocha presently held 15 to 16 per cent and was aiming to capture atleast 25 per cent market share in the next couple of years, he added.

Amlani said Mocha faced no competition from other coffee outlets as it was unique. Apart from coffee and desserts, it offered a variety of savoury bites, he said adding unlike other coffee outlets which were youth oriented, Mocha was an ideal outlet for youths, families and children.
